Protecting, developing and representing the sustainable interest of fishing communities across South WalesThe South & West Wales Fishing Communities was set up by commercial fishermen from South West Wales with grant assistance from European Objective 1 funding and the Welsh Assembly Government to highlight their sustainable fishing practices.South & West Wales Fishing Communities Ltd represents the interests and needs of over 100 fishermen operating along the Welsh coastline from Cardiff in the East to Cardigan in the West, all of whom are passionate about their fishing and the quality of their catch. Representative fishermen of the Association are located in fishing ports throughout the region with the main office in Milford Haven. Members fish for a range of species utilising a variety of methods, from finfish and flatfish in the East to lobster and crab in the West. The Association is committed to the sustainable development of the inshore fisheries of South & West Wales and works in partnership with a number of organisations. The association was successful in their bid for grant assistance to continue their operation to deliver fisheries related projects through to late 2012 with grant funding from the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) and the Welsh Assembly Government.
